Put Our Expansive Expertise in Real Estate and Land Use to Work for You.

Real Estate and Land Use issues are often complex, and litigation can arise at any point in a project’s lifetime. Our team of experts have devoted their careers to understanding the nuances of real estate and land use disputes—and how to avoid them. We’re able to provide the insights necessary to navigate what can be contentious and stressful situations for owners, developers, lenders, landlords, commercial tenants, real estate brokers and agents.

Our services and areas of expertise include:

Conditional Land Use Permits and Variances [+]

We help clients navigate the land use permit process. This includes helping them obtain use permits and/or variances and meeting with city staff and planners to prepare applications for variance cases. Additionally, because local support can make or break a deal, we create solutions to land use issues that better their community.

Land Use & Zoning for Cannabis [+]

Our deep expertise in the cannabis industry means we’re uniquely able to help clients determine what properties are suitable for dispensary, cultivation, processing, and manufacturing. We then help clients obtain building permits, and coordinate with architects and engineers for cannabis projects. We also serve as the liaison between local governments and the regulatory agencies that oversee a jurisdiction’s cannabis program.

Real Estate Transactions [+]

We advise clients on how to structure and document all types of real estate projects – including property site selection, purchase negotiation, sale and lease agreements, due diligence activities, entitlements, financing, leasing, and sales.

Land Use Litigation & Disputes [+]

We’ve represented property owners in a variety of land use and zoning disputes, successfully invalidating land use exactions, compelling issuance of permits, overturning unfavorable land use decisions, and challenging other zoning actions. We regularly represent clients in appeals to and from city and county boards related to variances and zoning interpretation requests and have litigated special action lawsuits to protect our clients’ property rights from arbitrary government action.
